As with all biomes the alpine tundra has its share of endangered species. one is the gyrfalcon (falco rusticolus). this predatory bird is endangered because its food sources (chipmunks squirrels etc.) are also becoming threatened. This makes survival hard for the gyrfalcon in the harsh tundra.
Another one is the grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) is also endangered due to lack of food. over-hunting of the grizzly bear and its food (salmon, deer, etc) causes it trouble to survive.
One more endangered species it the theme of our website, the mountain lion (puma concolor). Mountains are endangered because of the food competition it has with other animals and the slow destruction of its habitat at the hands of people. They are the most endangered animal in the us and hopefully they wont be so in the future.
